‘I think she would.’ Nancy sounded defensive. ‘She knows what blokes are like.’

‘So I’ve heard.’ He looked down and absent-mindedly traced the patterns on the tablecloth with his finger. ‘So, did you tell anyone you were coming here?’

He looked up at her and watched her shake her head. He wanted to bite her so hard she would scream with pain, to inhale the stench of her when she begged him to stop.
